Meet Dr. Raven
Dr. Raven Townsel is a clinical and sport psychologist, licensed in Nevada. She currently works as a sport psychologist for the athletic department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Her calm demeanor, informative and collaborative clinical approach, and engaging personality create a safe environment for clients to grow and develop. She is passionate about the work of counseling, mental performance, and equitable clinical care and views her role as a therapist and consultant as an opportunity to serve and empower others. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Raven provides educational workshops and presentations for various groups and organizations. She has been featured as a guest speaker for the Las Vegas Aces and NFL/NLFPA to help promote mental health awareness in the Las Vegas community.
Before joining UNLV, Dr. Raven worked at various universities across the Chicagoland area. During that same time, she worked for several years as an emergency services coordinator for a behavioral health hospital. In 2019, she became the diversity and outreach doctoral intern for Indiana University’s Counseling and Psychological Services. The following year, Dr. Raven was promoted to staff psychologist and eating disorder treatment team coordinator. She also served as the liaison for IU Athletics and was part of the Athlete Mental Health Task Force.
Dr. Raven graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in psychology. She earned her master's and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
